The famous Balzac sculpture of Rodin’s work was able to see in Balzac Fest in Kyiv thanks to the modern Web AR technology from the Linecore web studio.
Balzac Fest
Balzac Fest is a series of events organized in honour of the 220th birthday of Honore de Balzac to strengthen Franco-Ukrainian cultural cooperation. It is also the platform for artists creative self-expression to attract public attention.
Organizers of Balzac Fest:
- “Association of Balzac-Hanska” which was created to highlight and honour the union of the French writer Honore de Balzac and the Polish Countess Evelina Hanska, as well as popularizing the “Ukrainian period” in the life of the writer.
- Ukrainian Public Organization “In Memory of Life of Balzac and Hanska”.
This year’s program represented a wide range of events, united by Balzac theme: competitions among artists, translators and students, classical music concerts, theatrical performances and plays. There should be noted the work of the well-known sculptor V. Borodai in Kyiv among other significant events of the festival. There was also planned the celebration with the foreign guests in the manor house of Hanska in the Verkhivnya village.

Linecore brought the famous Balzac sculpture of Rodin’s work to Kyiv as a part of the festival opening. The original sculpture is situated in Paris at the intersection of Montparnasse and Rapasal boulevards. The bronze copies installed all over the world, from America to Japan. Experts believe that Balzac sculpture is the first truly modern statue.
At the grand opening of Balzac Fest, the Lincore web studio presented Balzac’s monument in Augmented Reality. Thanks to the technology of Web AR from Linecore, everyone was able to get acquainted with the work of the wizard and even take a picture with the statue.
Results:
Installation in the Augmented Reality had tremendous success among the visitors of the festival:
- More than 50% of the visitors interact with pleasure with AR content;
- More than 30% of the visitors downloaded photos or placed them in social networks.
The Balzac-Hanska Association expressed its gratitude to Linecore for the contribution to the Balzac Fest and strengthening of cultural relations between France and Ukraine.
“This year the 220th anniversary of Honore de Balzac is celebrated all over the world, and Ukraine is no exception. We started to work on the festival more than a year ago. And during the preparation, we called it Balzac Fest. This suggests that the festival will be held annually on a regular basis. Therefore, we expect that it will become an integral part of Ukrainian cultural life” – President of the Balzac-Hanska Association, Knight of the Order of the Honorary Legion, Jean-Roche (Ukrinform).
